Scrap Yard Drop-Offs in New Jersey
Whether you’re in charge of a construction site or just cleaning out your home, scrap metal can be found almost anywhere. Between broken appliances, obsolete electronics, and discarded plumbing materials, a scrap yard can help free up your space and allow you to turn a profit. At Sgt. Scrap, our drop-off option makes it easy to clear out excess scrap metals and other materials. We help those near our locations in New Jersey, as well as in people Pennsylvania, Delaware, and parts of New York, turn unused items into cash.
Scrap Metal Drop-Offs
Sgt. Scrap is well equipped to handle large amounts of scrap metal. Our two local scrap yards in Pennsauken Township and Haddon Township, NJ, provide cash for a wide selection of different metals. The metals we buy include the following:
Copper
One of the most valuable metals, copper is generally in high demand, as it’s being used faster than it can be mined. Copper comes in many grades, including #1 copper and #2 copper, each of which offers a lucrative price per pound. Sgt. Scrap also accepts copper wire and copper bearings.
Brass
Red and yellow brass will also net you a profit. This alloy is versatile, meaning it’s used to craft a host of items. This includes many places within the home, such as doorknobs, light fixtures, bullet casings, old instruments, and more.
Alloy
An alloy is comprised of two or more elements. It can contain a mix of metals or a metal and a nonmetal like carbon. Alloys can be found throughout many homes, including in bicycles, older appliances, and golf clubs.
Aluminum
Individuals or commercial clients can sell Sgt. Scrap excess aluminum in the form of appliances, outdoor furniture, and other items. Because it’s easy to recycle and reuse, scrap aluminum offers a sustainable material that’s typically in demand.
Lead
Lead is a heavy metal that doesn’t sell for as high of a price but is still accepted. This metal is commonly found in batteries, wheel weights, and other objects.
Stainless Steel
Sgt. Scrap accepts stainless steel 304, stainless steel 316, 410 stainless steel, and dirty stainless steel. This recyclable scrap metal can be found in several household items, as well as medical devices and chemical storage equipment.
Steel
Found throughout homes and facilities, this ferrous metal combines iron and carbon. We accept rotors and drums, cast iron, and other items. Our auto salvage yard in Pennsauken Township even takes complete vehicles containing steel. **Please note that our Pennsauken yard is larger than our Gloucester location and can facilitate larger vehicles and trailers much easier. We also have a truck scale for steel and aluminum siding to make the drop off process much more efficient! **
While Sgt. Scrap accepts a wide range of metals, as well as e-scrap, wheels, and radiators, we can’t take certain materials, including the following:
- Concrete
- Wood
- Plastics
- Engines that have not been drained
- Any high-pressure tanks that have not been opened
- Oil Tanks that are not cut in half and drained
Preparing Scrap Metal for Dropping Off
Before bringing in your scrap metal, take a few simple steps to ensure you’ll get the best possible price. For metals like brass, for example, ensuring they’re clean and free of excess materials is important. Materials such as plastic or wood that are attached to your metals should be tossed away. Also take the time to remove any coatings like paint, oils, or contaminants, as these will leave you with purer metals that may garner a higher price.
Simply sorting your scrap can make a big difference. Once organized, our team can quickly and accurately put a price on what you’ve brought in, and more valuable metals won’t get lost in the shuffle. Sgt. Scrap continually offers fair, competitive pricing, helping you get the most out of each haul to our scrap yard.
